Menina
Menina Sculpture Medium. Multicolor
This sculpture is a modern approach to the 1600s classic art. It is inspired by the Spanish painter Diego Velazquez one of the most important painters of the Spanish Golden Age. In Spanish and Portuguese, Menina means young girl or miss. It was also the name given to the girls -lady in waiting- who from a very young age were dedicated to serve the royal family in the palace.
Meninas are collectible artwork and are usually brought together as a group to replicate the number of females, daughters or granddaughters in the family.
